A very warm welcome to the Flyfishing section of Fishability UK!
The charity sets out to give fishing experiences across all codes, but learn more here about how to get involved in our flyfishing activities.
Tony Hern is the Game Fishing Co-Ordinator for Fishability UK, so send him an email registering your interest in taking part in a day out with a fly rod. [email protected]
Tony lives and works in Albury Surrey, and is a professional Fishery Manager and Fly Casting and Fly Dressing instructor. He will carefully guide you through each step along the way to becoming an accomplished flyfisher!
The charity receives donations of tackle, which we can then pass on to newcomers into our sport, so getting you kitted out is easy!
Learning new skills can be a bit daunting, so workshops are set up, giving up you the best hands on advice, preparing you for your first day out with a flyrod. Tony has given fly casting tutorials before at Tyrwhitt House at Leatherhead, Stoll Housing, West London, Mike Jackson House in Aldershot, quite apart from regular charity fishing events at well known fisheries across Southern Britain, where several guides will also be on hand to help you through the day.
A typical day out sees breakfast, lunch and tea supplied, all the tackle you will need, ticket costs taken care of, and even an exemption for requiring a rod licence for the day. And, if we know they are some guys who would like to go fishing in a certain part of the country, then a day can be particularly tailored to your own needs.
So what are you waiting for?!
Please get in touch giving some background as to your fishing aims and aspirations, whether you will be able to drive to the venue, take a train ride, or maybe you would prefer to have a lift arranged? If you keep an eye on the events section, you will see what fishing trips are lined up for the forthcoming months.
Looking forward to seeing you on the bank very soon!
Best Regards, Tony Hern, FishabilityUK
